Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Slovenia Essence (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit sloveniaessence.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

We collect as little as we reasonably can, and we never sell your data.

1. Data You Provide Directly

We collect personal data only when you choose to give it to us:

  • Contact form — name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message, sent to us so we can reply.

  • Newsletter signup — your email address, used only to send occasional updates from Slovenia. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not require an account to browse the site, and we don’t run a comments system.

2. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies — essential ones for the site to function, and optional ones only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

3. Third-Party Services

A few parts of the site rely on outside services to work:

  • Hosting — the site is hosted by Hostinger, which processes standard server logs (IP address, browser type) as part of running the site securely.

  • Maps — interactive maps use OpenStreetMap tiles via the Leaflet library. Loading a map may share your IP address with OpenStreetMap’s tile servers.

  • Analytics — with your consent, given via the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. It only runs if you accept cookies — see our Cookie Policy.

  • Booking & affiliate links — some guides link to booking partners (Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia, Vrbo) through the Stay22 platform, which also runs a small site-wide script to track affiliate bookings. Clicking these links takes you to the partner’s own site, which has its own privacy policy — we don’t share your personal data with them beforehand.

We don’t use advertising trackers. Analytics data is only collected if you accept cookies in the banner.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the data you provide only to:

  • reply to your message,

  • send the newsletter, if you signed up for it, and

  • keep the site secure and working correctly.

We never sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

5. Data Retention

Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data at any time — see Section 7.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold, including secure hosting and restricted access. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.

7. Your Rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you,

  • correct inaccurate data,

  • delete your data, or

  • unsubscribe from the newsletter.
